Yup, you heard me right. Hot Smoothies.
Let me say it again in case you thought I made a typo. Hot Smoothies.
I know what you’re thinking. Gross, right? Actually it isn’t. Think of a thick hot chocolate. Yes, they can taste that good. Smoothies are super delicious when hot and not only do they taste yummy, they do a body good.
3 reasons why you should be drinking your smoothies hot:
- You want to say goodbye to fartsville. If you suffer from digestive bloat, gas, and general digestive discomfort then you’re going to benefit from switching your smoothies from ice cold to piping hot. Putting ice cold foods into your stomach make it harder to digest, leaving you bloated, uncomfortable and farty.
- Your energy isn’t what it should be. You’re health conscious. You’re on top of the latest health trends. You’ve tried all the diets out there, but for some reason you’re still yawning all day long. Drinking ice cold smoothies make your gut work harder to break down and absorb nutrients. Nutrient absorption is so important for energy production. If you’re not absorbing, you’re going to be nutrient deficient and therefore super tired. Give your gut a break and eat and drink warm foods that easily improve your health.
- You want a rock solid immune system. Let me guess, you’re the one with a season’s worth of kleenex in your bag. For some reason you’re always catching the cold that’s floating around at the office. You take your vitamin C, D, and zinc, but still seem to catch bugs each fall & winter. It’s time to look at your food. Are you eating a ton of raw salads and ice cold smoothies? You aren’t doing your gut any favours and making it harder to actually digest what you’re eating. Weak digestion = weak immunity Try a month of hot smoothies and see how good you start to feel.
So now that you know how important it is to drink hot smoothies, here’s a favourite recipe for you.
Hot Chocolate Smoothie
1/2 green banana
2 tbsp ground flax
1 tbsp organic cacao powder (we use Cacao Camino)
1 scoop protein powder (we use Genuine Health Fermented Vegan Protein+ Vanilla)
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
1-1.5 cups boiling water
Place all ingredients into a blender (we love our Vitamix) and blend on high for about a minute, until it’s super smooth and a little frothy.
